2017 ISCA Summit Racing Equipment Show Car Series Championship Finals

The 2017 ISCA Championship Finals sponsored by Summit Racing Equipment was held in conjunction with 55th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Chicago World of Wheels presented by Denny Guest’s South Oak Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep. It was the 54th year of the ISCA competition, and what a great show it turned out to be!

When we produce the Finals with one of the ISCA shows, it becomes a show within a show. The Championship Finalists show against each other and are not in competition with the participants in the World of Wheels show.

There were twenty-seven entries qualified for the Finals competing in five different categories: Custom, Rod, Truck, Restored and Street Machine/Comp. The entries represented nineteen different states and two provinces. Each category has $10,000.00 in prize money. When it is all said and done, the five category champions are pitted against each other to determine the Grand Champion for the season. The Grand Champion receives an additional $5000.00 in prize money, and all participants in the Finals receive some very nice awards for their efforts. All of this is sponsored by Summit Racing Equipment plus over twenty other supporting sponsors of the series.

There were four ISCA officials from different parts of the country chosen to do the judging for this special event: Gary Moore (Colorado), Jim Karls (California), Ken Faust (Pennsylvania), and Brian Millard (Iowa).

The winners of the ISCA Appreciation Awards were also announced at the Finals banquet. The winners of these awards are decided by votes from the exhibitors themselves. Since they are recognition from their peers, these awards are always an honor to receive. The 2017 Appreciation Awards were presented to: Ron Kitchens (Owner of the Year), Rod Parsons (Rookie of the Year), Richard Broyles (Sportsman of the Year), Paul Potocki (Official of the Year), Mike Tarquinio (Individual of the Year), and Lynn Broyles & Michela Giles, who tied for Companion of the Year.

I would like to thank Summit Racing Equipment, Championship Auto Shows, Inc. and the other members of the ISCA Producers Association for their continued support year after year. I’d also like to offer congratulations to the 2017 Championship Finalists, and express my appreciation to all the exhibitors who show their vehicles at all of the shows in the ISCA Summit Racing Equipment Show Car Series.
